Spider-Man: BND Swings to Success

Spider-Man Brand New Day shows the web slinging hero’s next adventure in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). This next chapter delivers another win for Marvel.

The story follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) continues to save the city as the masked hero, however people still have no memory of who Peter Parker is.

Trouble starts to rise for Peter when a mysterious new villain threatens the city. He must track down the villain along with reuniting with his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and former flame MJ (Zendaya) who have no memory of him.

This new MCU installment has Spider-Man as a street level crime fighter. The webbed hero is orginally that type of hero in the comics, which many fans have waited for.

Holland’s performance was one of the green flags of the movie. Though he still has his comedic moments in awkward and perilous situations, the main thing was the dramatic side to the role.

After the results of Doctor Strange’s spell, Parker is truly alone. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) is dead and Parker’s friends don’t know that Peter Parker exists. Seeing Parker struggle with his new life was engaging and it relates to the character.

Sadie Sink’s mysterious character was finally revealed as Jean Grey, the omega level mutant from X-Men. In this film, Grey gets her powers at a young as and her deceased sister also had powers similar to her. Seeing her story and struggles throughout the film was captivating. In addition, it shows promise for future projects.

Frank Castle/Punisher (Jon Bernthal) also returns. The brotherly relationship between him and Parker was entertaining and comedic. Usually Punisher is seen in darker series, but seeing him in a lighter and comedic project was enlightening.

The action choreography was riveting. The development of Parker’s powers and becoming stronger was thrilling and have the eyes glued to the screen.

The verdict: Spider-Man Brand New Day is a movie that can’t be missed.
