Marvel's Wolverine Slashes to Success
The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 video game, Marvel’s Wolverine has been released and Insomniac Games has delivered another hit game.
The story follows Wolverine as he’s discovered by Essex/Mr. Sinister. Since this discovery he formed a team with him, Sabertooth and Mystique called Team X. Along the way, Wolverine discovers more about his past and has formed alliances with other mutants including Jean Grey.
Before its launch, the game received some negative reviews from critics. Generally, they didn’t approve the gameplay and the blue trail that Wolverine follows with his sense of smell. However, that is not the issue.
The gameplay was average. Wolverine’s fighting style felt repetitive with his basic attack moves. However, the special attack moves made things entertaining and interesting.
The story of the game was captivating. Wolverine’s journey was filled with epic fights and classic villains, but seeing his partnership and romance with Jean Grey brought a whole new level of drama to the game.
Wolverine’s character itself was designed with most accuracy. He was tortured, brooding, violent and a loner. However, in this version he had more of a sense of humor than most other versions in media. In spite of that, Liam McIntyre portrayed the lethal mutant well.
All of the villains in the game were engaging. Wolverine and his allies fight sentinels, the Hand, the Reavers and more. Fighting bosses such as Lady Deathstrike, the big Sentinel and Sabertooth made the game alluring.
The graphics were another green flag. The visuals and environments were well detailed. Animation was done adequately as the story went on.
For those who are fans of Marvel and/or action games, Marvel’s Wolverine is a game worth downloading. It’s a game worth playing a second time.
